Backups
Backups are full snapshots of your VPS. You can create them manually from the dashboard, restore a previous snapshot to roll back your server, and delete snapshots you no longer need. The dashboard shows live progress while a backup is being created or restored.
Backup Slots
Every VPS includes 2 backup slots by default. Each slot holds one snapshot. You can add more slots from the Resources page if you need additional capacity.
The current slot usage is displayed on the Backups card on your VPS overview page as a counter (e.g. "1 / 2").
Creating a Backup
- Open your VPS in the dashboard
- Click the Backups card to open the backup panel
- Click Create Backup
The button is disabled when all slots are full or another backup operation is already running.
After you confirm, a new entry appears in the list with a pulsing amber indicator and a progress percentage. The progress updates automatically in real time — you do not need to refresh the page. Once the backup finishes, the indicator turns green and the entry shows the snapshot size.
Restoring a Backup
Restoring a backup overwrites all data on your VPS with the contents of the selected snapshot. This cannot be undone.
- Open the backup panel
- Find the backup you want to restore
- Click the restore icon (circular arrow) next to the backup
The backup entry shows a pulsing blue indicator and a progress percentage while the restore is running. Your server status changes to "Restoring Backup" and power actions are unavailable until the restore completes.
Once the restore finishes, the server returns to its previous state and the backup entry turns green again.
Deleting a Backup
- Open the backup panel
- Click the delete icon (trash can) next to the backup you want to remove
The backup is removed immediately. This frees up one slot for a new snapshot.
You can only delete backups that have finished creating. Backups that are currently in progress cannot be deleted.
Live Progress
When a backup is being created or restored, the dashboard shows the operation's progress in real time:
- The backup entry displays a percentage that updates every few seconds
- The server status indicator in the header changes to "Creating Backup" or "Restoring Backup"
- Power actions (start, stop, restart) are disabled until the operation finishes
Progress tracking works even if you navigate away and come back — the dashboard picks up the current state from the server and continues updating.
Notifications
You receive a notification when a backup operation completes or fails. If you have push notifications enabled, you are notified even if you have closed the dashboard.
- Backup Completed — your snapshot was created successfully
- Backup Failed — the snapshot could not be created
- Restore Completed — your server was restored to the selected backup
- Restore Failed — the restore could not be completed
Troubleshooting
"Create Backup" button is disabled — either all backup slots are full, or another backup/restore operation is already running. Wait for any in-progress operation to finish, or free up a slot by deleting an existing backup.
Backup stuck at a percentage — large servers with heavy disk usage can take a while. If progress has not changed for more than 30 minutes, contact support.
Restore did not change anything — make sure you selected the correct backup. The restore applies the exact state from when that snapshot was taken, including any data written after the backup was created.
Need more backup slots — go to the Resources page for your VPS and increase the Backup Slots value. The first 2 slots are included free; additional slots are charged per step.
