Account & Teams

Notifications

Sitequest sends notifications when important events happen across your infrastructure. You control which notifications you receive and how they reach you.

Channels

There are two notification channels:

Channel How it works
Push Real-time browser and device notifications via Web Push. Requires granting notification permission in your browser.
Email Sent to the email address on your Sitequest account.

Both channels can be toggled independently per category. You can also disable a channel globally to mute all notifications of that type at once.

Categories

Notifications are grouped into categories. Each category can be configured separately for push and email.

Access & team

Fires when someone invites you to a VPS, domain, or team, or when access to one of your resources is requested or changed. This includes team membership changes like role updates and removals.

VPS

Alerts when a VPS goes online, offline, or encounters an issue. Also covers backup creation, completion, and failures.

Domain

DNS record updates, domain transfers, expiration warnings, and WHOIS or DNSSEC changes.

Billing & invoices

Payment confirmations, upcoming renewals, failed charges, and subscription changes. Email notifications for this category are mandatory and cannot be disabled — this is required by law for invoice and payment documentation.

Account security

Passkey registrations and deletions, session revocations, email changes, and other security-related events. Enabled by default but can be turned off.

Mandatory notifications

Billing and invoice emails are always sent regardless of your preferences. This ensures you receive legally required payment confirmations and invoices. The email toggle for this category is locked in the settings UI.

All other categories and channels are fully configurable.

Configuring preferences

  1. Go to Settings in the dashboard sidebar
  2. Open Notifications
  3. Under Channels, enable or disable push and email globally
  4. Under each category, toggle push and email individually

Changes take effect immediately. There is no save button — each toggle updates your preference in real time.

Push notification setup

To receive push notifications:

  1. On the Notifications settings page, find the This Device section
  2. Click Enable Notifications
  3. Your browser will ask for permission — click Allow

Push notifications are per-device. If you use multiple browsers or devices, enable notifications on each one separately. You can test your setup with the Send Test Notification button.

If you previously denied notification permission, you will need to reset it in your browser settings. The dashboard will show a message explaining this.
